The Planet Hazard web site has been around for a while and the data that drives it is getting a bit old, but it’s still an interesting and useful tool for locating sources of pollution throughout the US.
Basically, the site pairs data from the 2002 Environmental Protection Agency’s National Emission Inventory Database with Google Maps, enabling users to view pollution sources by state, county or city. Click on a pushpin, and a display pops up with name of the pollution source, along with types and amounts of pollutants from that source.
More than 86,000 companies are included in the dataset.
