From time to time, Ecology-Today highlights images of the very large — spectacular nebulae, galaxies in collision, and other cosmological wonders.
This weekend, we thought we’d highlight the beauty and complexities of the very small, and for that there’s no better place to go than Nikon’s Small World.
The image at right is a fly larvae, taken at 25X and a placed winner of the 2009 Small World photomicrography competition.
For more stunning images visit Nikon Small World homepage or the Image Gallery, where you’ll find competition winners dating back to 1977.
The Small World Exhibit can also be seen at select museums and science centers throughout North America. For locations and dates, visit the Small World Museum Tour page.
To enter work of your own, visit the Entries page. Deadline for the 2010 Competition is April 30.
